Holding our movement ancestors and elders in our heart

Today we honor the life of Cesar Chavez, and the work he did to fight to gain better working conditions for the thousands of workers who labored on farms for low wages and under severe conditions. Today we recognized his humanity, and imperfections.

Today we pay respect to Dolores Huerta, a symbol of hope and love for the people.  While Dolores was busy breaking down one gender barrier after another, she was seemingly unaware of the tremendous impact she was having on, not only farm worker woman but also young women everywhere.

This video was a wonderful collaboration between community leaders and state leaders. In the words of Coco Chang, Legislative Assistant to Senator Rebecca Saldaña, "What a blessing it is for us to do this work - holding our movement ancestors and elders in our hearts today".
