Real Time Employer Demand - Monthly Report - December 2022

The Employer Demand and Supply-Demand Reports have been updated through November 2022.

November 2022 data shows that the ratio of job postings compared to unemployment benefit claimants has been affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The ratio for the number of job postings compared to those interacting with the unemployment insurance system from November 1 through November 30, 2022 was 3.29 job postings, whereas the November 2021 ratio was 3.80 job postings.

Supply demand at a glance

For this update, we will be covering the month-over-month difference between October and November 2022. 

Month-over-month review

Total job postings decreased from 159,546 in October to 148,418 in November 2022, a decrease of 11,128 or 7.0 percent. However, the number of new job postings experienced an increase, going from 61,023 new postings in October 2022 to 61,985 new postings in November 2022, an increase of 962 or 1.6 percent.

Without the Seattle-King County region, the number of total job postings comparing October to November 2022 decreased by 4,898 or 6.2 percent, going from 78,435 to 73,537. The number of new job postings experienced a decrease of 256 or 0.8 percent, going from 30,637 to 30,381 during this period.

In a month-over-month comparison, all workforce development areas (WDAs) experienced decreases in the number of total job postings. Seattle-King County and Spokane WDAs experienced the largest decreases in the number of total job postings, with a decrease of 6,230 and 1,274, or 7.7 and 8.6 percent, respectively. 

The only occupation experiencing an increase in total job postings comparing October to November 2022:

  • Education, training, and library with an increase of 53 or 1.3 percent.

Occupations with the largest decreases in total job postings comparing October to November 2022:

  • Management with a decrease of 1,551 or 7.1 percent; 

  • Office and administrative support with a decrease of 1,208 or 8.0 percent; and

  • Food preparation and serving related with a decrease of 1,127 or 14.2 percent.
