On the agenda for the Dec. 16 commission meeting is a proposed grant from the Port’s Local Economic Development Investment Fund and a two-year contract with the World Trade Center of Tacoma. Commissioners will also receive an update on the Lower Wapato Creek Habitat project and the Port of Tacoma Habitat Strategy. Read the full agenda.

Northwest Ports Adopt Plans to Phase Out Maritime Emissions
The Northwest Seaport Alliance adopted its plan to implement the Northwest Ports Clean Air Strategy following those recently adopted by the Ports of Tacoma and Seattle, enabling each port to identify, prioritize, and focus resources on actions that help achieve their collective zero-emission vision. WSDOT video highlights SR 167 Completion Project
The Washington State Department of Transportation recently released an animation showing what the new 2-mile highway will look like between Interstate 5 and SR 509. This is part of the SR 167 Completion Project, an important step in creating a more sustainable cargo transportation plan for generations to come. Watch the video.
Port volunteers help pack food boxes at Emergency Food Network
On Dec.4, a team of volunteers from the Port of Tacoma repacked 13,000 lbs. of food into 650 home delivery boxes at the Emergency Food Network (EFN) in Lakewood. EFN distributes the food to more than 70 sites throughout Pierce County to help fight hunger in our community. So far this year, Port volunteers have repacked nearly 15 tons of food!
