College Bound 101 Training + Other Resources
College Bound 101 Training, Wednesday, January 27th (10am-11:15am)
This training opportunity will provide an overview of the College Bound Scholarship program and review recent updates and changes. It is open to school personnel, community-based organizations and community leaders. During this training, folks will have an opportunity to network with others from around the state to discuss strategies for supporting College Bound at high schools and middle schools. To help increase engagement in a virtual space, this workshop will be facilitated using a combination of short presentations, polling, and other engagement tools. If you have anyone in mind who may benefit from this, please pass the information along.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program:
As you may know, DACA program has been fully reinstated. This means eligible individuals who were not able to apply for this temporary protection from deportation + ability to work legally in the United States previously, can now do so. With this comes much confusion about the details of eligibility and the application process. If you have students who speak to you about this, please support them by offering useful information from legitimate sources. There are many DACA informational sessions throughout WA state and I am happy to share with you as the information comes. For now, I leave you with these:
UW Leadership without Borders & Student Legal Services hosted a DACA renewal workshop led by attorneys at SLS on January 21st. A recorded video of the presentation and the list of community resources for folks who are not UW students are here:
Keep Dreams Alive Foundation (based in Snohomish County) hosted a virtual event in Spanish, Hablemos sobre DACA, on Wednesday, January 13th. You can access a recorded video of the virtual event here: https://fb.watch/39NKC7FnHa/
