Gloria Ochoa-Bruck

Gloria Ochoa-Bruck is a graduate of Pasco High School and Columbia Basin College. Gloria earned her B.A. degree in Business Administration from Washington State University Tri-Cities and her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Idaho College of Law.

Gloria was appointed to serve as Commissioner for the Commission on Hispanic Affairs by Governor Gregoire in August of 2012 and was re-appointed to a second term by Governor Inslee in November of 2015.  She is serving her second term as Chair. Prior to commencing her position with the City of Spokane, she held a judicial services contract with the Spokane Tribe of Indians and served as Chief Judge for Spokane Tribal Court. Gloria commenced her career serving as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Benton County and then transitioned into private practice where she held indigent defense contracts with several jurisdictions and focused her practice on State and Federal felony matters.

Gloria is a graduate of Leadership Tri-Cities Class XII, Leadership Spokane 2012 and the 2014 Washington Equal Justice Community Leadership Academy.  Gloria is President of the Latino Hope Foundation and a member of the Hispanic Business Professionals Association, the Latina/o Bar Association, Spokane County Bar Association’s Diversity Committee, Excelerate Success Leadership Team and Spokane Rotary Club 21.  She serves on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity Spokane, Boys and Girls Club of Spokane County, and the Washington Initiative for Diversity Governing Council.  She is an advisory Board Member for the College Success Foundation and the Lutheran Community Services Sexual Assault and Family Trauma Response Center.  Gloria serves on the board for the Washington State Bar Association Lawyer’s Fund for Client Protection Board. Gloria is certified as a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory. Gloria was accepted to Washington State University’s Criminal Justice and Criminology PhD program with the entering class of 2016.

Gloria lives in Colbert, Washington with her husband Nick and has four children.
